Scott Kay - Crown Setting Diamond Engagement RingsNot that I’m looking to get married soon, but I think anyone who gets an eyeful of Scott Kay’s Crown Setting engagement rings will be wanting a proposal ASAP. This gorgeous ring features a smaller diamond on each side of the setting so you get some dazzle from all sides. Scott Kay is well known in the bridal jewelry industry and started the movement back to platinum jewelry after World War II. Even if he hadn’t staged this rebirth, his designs in platinum and gold attract many brides-to-be, or any one who enjoys the beauty of diamonds.

    • Maybe its just the pic, but it seems the diamond is really concealed by the setting. It looks like a very protective type of setting, but does it let the diamond shine enough to make a real impression? I’d like to learn more!

    • That’s a good point, Martha. This image doesn’t really do justice to this setting, since the angle shows more of the metal and less of the diamond. This setting actually lets in significantly more light than a bezel setting would, and from a top angle the diamond would sparkle nicely. It also depends on the size of the diamond, in relation to the size of the prongs. This design has a more secure double prong design, but as a result, has more metal in comparison to a 4 prong design. Of course, with a larger diamond, it would take more of the attention away from the prongs. You can see more angles of a similar ring to this one on the Scott Kay website.

    • I happen to own this ring in a 1.5ct version and it gets A LOT of attention and positive remarks. I was told by a salesman at Bailey Banks and Biddle that the engraving is all done by hand under some kind of microscope and no two are alike! It looks like my grandmothers vintage engagement ring but this setting is a little higher (doesn’t look quite like the photo) Hope this helps!

    • I think you would have to see this ring from the top view. I agree with Donna that the engraving looks like a vintage item. Vintage jewelry and watch are making a real statement in the luxury market simply because of their uniqueness. very similar to a numbered watch series creates exclusivity within the markplace.

    • I own one of Scott Kay Crown settings with a HOF center stone. I have yet to see any photo that has shown the quality, beauty, or design of these rings. The engraving is done by hand. The male bands are equally impressive. We have both chosen Scott Kay rings. The top views are visible also from their website. You can also request a brochure on the website. I would recommend using the locater on the Scott Kay website and seeing these in person.

    • Donna, Randy and Sabrina – all great points! These Scott Kay settings are definitely mixing the old with the new. The details on the band alone are impressive, and personally, I love the Crown setting with the diamond on the front and back. Check out our Scott Kay catalog and news section for more updates from JCK in the next week and find out where you can see one of these beauties in person with our dealer locator.

    • I would like to the crown set diamond rings !!!

    • I have been wanting to see the crown set diamond rings !!!!!!!!!!

    • Hi, This is not a crown setting, it is something else. I went to http://www.scottkay.com and found real crown settings (and they are amazing – I just received one in palladium, a metal like platinum) and it glows!!! The 2ct center is even better and i has two diamonds on each side and even two more under the center diamond – 5 DIAMONDS. That’s a crown setting fit for a queen. ; ) My gfs looooove this ring. style M722 from Mr. Kay.

    • I also think that it could just be the photo, but the diamond does seem to be hiding in that setting, I am not sure that I like this setting at all.

    • This is NOT a crown setting. i own one. go to scott kays site and they have a lot of photos in a very clear area – click on ladies then engagement (grand site btw!!) : ) Leslie
