Shaking up the stuffy air of Haute Horlogerie: The Franck Muller Revolution Tourbillon

Without question, one of the tourbillon watches on the market with the highest cool factor is the Franck Muller Revolution Tourbillon. Perhaps operating on the premises that most complications don’t exist so much for any practical reason as they do to provide a source of high mechanical entertainment and fascination, the “Master of Complications” has given us this watch which enables a whole new degree of tourbillon voyeurism. Push the button, and the tourbillon cage will rise up out of the dial aperture, right up against the sapphire crystal; even better, it will stay there, as long as the button is depressed. Once you’re satisfied, let it go, and the tourbillon returns to its original positions, while the stopped hands instantly resume the correct time, as if nothing had ever disrupted them.
That’s pretty amazing, I think! In my humble opinion, it’s also admirable that Franck Muller can inject some lightheartedness into the sometimes overly serious technical gravity of haute horlogerie and the super prestige watch complications.

No matter what anybody says, Franck Muller designs a cool watch, its awesome! And for the complicated watch collector, this is an exquisite tourbillon. Who stocks the more complicated Franck Muller watches? Cellini in NY?

Can anyone help me? I recently received a Franck Muller Casablanca (5850) as a gift. (it is pre-owned – age undetermined.) It is a beautiful piece. However, I do not know how to operate the thing! At the 3 o’clock position is a small dial (date i assume as it goes from 1-31). At the 6 o’clock position is another dial that goes from 1-24 (hrs?? for another time zone??) and at the 9 o’clock position is a dial that goes from 1-7 (day of the week?? maybe??)
the watch case is set up like a chronograph. the button above the stem, when pushed makes the 1-7 dial move backwards (ie, 7, then 6, then 5 etc) and the bottom button doesn’t make anything happen – that i can tell.
any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
tom
