Fashion Week: New Catherine Malandrino Jewelry Collection
Posted on February 4th, 2008 3 commentsCatherine Malandrino has been a mainstay in fashion for years, designing for big names like Emanual Ungaro and Diane von Furstenberg. She started her collection in 1998 and since then has seen much success with her designs popping up on celebs everywhere, even inspiring a Sex and the City episode filmed in her SoHo store. This French born designer has made her mark with clothing designs that are truly feminine with an edgy twist in the details.
Malandrino will extend her chic aesthetic today by debuting her jewelry collection at her New York Fashion Week fall show. The addition will consist of necklaces, rings, cuffs and earrings made of raw minerals and semiprecious stones. The line is said to include African jade and enamel with shades of green, cognac, and black. I am extremely excited to see what Malandrino has come up with and I wouldn’t be surprised if it becomes as successful as her other lines, with a cult following of big name stars.

Jessica Alba has “The Eye” on fashion
Posted on February 4th, 2008 No comments
Opening today, Jessica Alba stars in The Eye, as a blind woman who receives eye transplants that allow her to see the supernatural. Definitely freaky. Alba rose to stardom as the ass-kicking Dark Angel who rode a motorcycle and fought like a female Jason Bourne. Fast forward to 2008 and we’ve seen Jessica grow into a stylish young lady and soon-to-be mom. Here, we see her in Jacob & Co. chandelier earrings, and a lacey LBD.Alba shines in designer clothing from the fashion houses of Prada, Dolce & Gabbana and Roberto Cavalli. She is a fashion magazine staple because she shows off killer outfits, but we don’t see her exposing every part of herself on the red carpet, and that’s the way she wants it. She told In Style that she doesn’t overkill on revealing clothing because “that’s not the kind of attention I want.” She even had a no-nudity clause in her contract for Sin City where her role was a stripper, which she discussed in this month’s issue of Elle. She emphasizes that using her sexuality is not what she’s about, which is probably why we see her in fashionable frocks that are are anything but risqué. As someone in her age group, I’m surprised that Jessica hasn’t exposed her curvaceous body to the entire world like almost every other young actress in Hollywood. So I guess I can respect her and her fashion “eye” for that.
