The Girard-Perregaux Richeville Day-Night Watch – A Unique, Appealing Tonneau Timepiece:

Those who enjoy alternative time displays such as regulators and jump hours will bepleased with Girard-Perregaux’s Richeville Day-Night watch. A very well-balanced blend of expressive elegance and interesting horological elements, this new member of the exclusively tonneau-shaped Richeville timepiece line give you a striking dial that presents an interesting range of information clearly to the eye. There is of course, the subsidiary seconds dial on the left, and the arc-shaped power reserve indicator, and a large blued-steel minute hand in the center.
But where is the hour hand? With the Richeville Day-Night timepiece, Girard-Perregaux has decided to present the hours upon a rotating ring that is synchronized with the minute hand! Sort of a spiritual relative, you might say, of a regulator hour display, this unique way to show the passing hours might pass at first glance as a world timer–until you take a closer look. It’s very appealing, and is a great presentation within the elegant barrel shaped Richeville watch design.
The combination of elegant design, unusual (yet not overly cluttered) and attractive small complications, and a fine Girard-Perregaux movement make the Day-Night timepiece one of the most refreshing tonneau luxury dress watches on the market. I think it is particularly beautiful in the pink gold version, which really brings out the subtle little contrasts on the dial.
