Panerai Historic Luminor Base watch
Last night, I got a chance to see Sylvester Stallone reprise his classic role of an ex-Green Beret warrior in “Rambo”–as he and a group of mercenaries undertake a blood-soaked but heroic mission to save innocent hostages from a sadistic Burmese military group.

I really enjoyed the movie, but I was particularly delighted to see a Panerai watch proudly featured on Stallone’s wrist—it appears several times, most notably when he and the mercenaries are coordinating their watches.  Knowing what a fan of Panerai timepieces the actor is, I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised (Panerai watches have appeared in many of Stallone’s films, and much like Audemars Piguet and Arnold Schwarzenegger–there are Panerai watches which have been created just for Mr.Stallone), but it was definitely cool to see, regardless.

Rambo’s timepiece appears to be a special variant of either the Panerai Historic Luminor Marina or Luminor Base watch.  Manually wound and super tough, this watch naturally has a PVD-finish, that keeps reflectivity to zero, so our hero can take out the sentries without being betrayed by any shine or reflection.   Its nice to see a tough sports watch like this in the midst of some serious action–even if it is a fictional!
