• The Jaquet Droz Chrono Monopoussoir Watch: A Chronograph Most Elegant

Posted on February 14th, 2008 Adam Keith No comments

Jaquet Droz Chrono Monopoussoir Minerale watch
Among dressy chronographs, surely one of the most eye-catchingly beautiful made today is the Jaquet Droz Chrono Monopoussoir watch.  Isn’t it amazing what eliminating those chronograph buttons can do for the profile of a watch?  By utilizing a sophisticated single-push chronograph mechanism which is co-axial with the crown, Jaquet Droz has created a chronograph which has all the normal functions, but retains a wonderfully clean profile.

Monopush chronographs are quite a rarity, and this Jaquet Droz watch is stunning even among this elite list.  The dial arrangement is extraordinary and very unique with its off-centered hour and minute displays.  The stunning fire-roasted blue steel hands are another spectacular point of mention, and are as fine an example of this technique as may be found anywhere in the world today.

Choosing from the extraordinary range of exotic dials that Jaquet Droz offers for the Chrono Monopoussoir watch is probably the greatest challenge facing a prospective owner.  Traditional Grand Feu enamel? So traditional, classic and pure.  How about a stunning mineral dial like meteorite or spectralite?  Incredible, and unique.  Of course, to be faced with such a choice is a wonderful thing–regardless of your choice, you can be assured that you have selected one of the finest and most distinctive luxury chronographs in the world.

  • Milus Watch – Ladies Watches by Milus

Milus Apiana Chronograph Watch - Ladies Diamond WatchMilus is one of my new favorite Swiss watch brands for ladies watches.

Milus is very different than most Swiss watch brands.  Whereas other brands manufacture mens and ladies versions of the same watch, Milus does not.  Milus ladies watches are specially created by separate designers who specifically design with the woman in mind.

Each of their ladies models has a distinct model with a different case shape.  In addition, each model has a different color scheme.

The Milus Apiana Chronograph watch is the more classic ladies watch available in white and black.   The watch shown here is the Apiana Chronograph watch with the black stingray strap with diamond bezel.

The Milus Apiana watch has dark straps of black, red, deep red, brown with a few models available in white.  The Apiana watch is the only Milus watch with the stingray strap.

The Milus Aurigos watch models come in pastel colored straps of blue, salmon, and various shade of pink and with soft dial colors as well.

The Milus Cirina watch models are perfect watches for evening wear.  Two variations come with stainless steel bracelets.

If you want a watch with an elongated rectangular case shape, then look to the Milus Eridana watch models.  Some models have satin-look straps, while one model has an 18k yellow gold bracelet and yet another model has a white gold bracelet.

The Milus Merea watch is the newest beloved ladies watch of Milus.  Featuring a retrograde complication, leather strap and white gold or rose gold case, these watches are luxury, sophistication and complicated Swiss watch all in one.

Finally, the Milus Monocera watch is a feminine and sleek watch that looks like an elegant ladies bracelet.  The Milus Monocera ladies watch has a special design:  the bracelet design does not enclose giving it the look of a bangle bracelet and the back tip features a round stone, maybe a crystal.

If you are looking for your next Swiss watch, especially for your next ladies watch, consider Milus.

Their ladies watches are given special attention and care from design to execution to presentation!

  • Chopard Jewelry on Sienna Miller at the 2008 BAFTA Awards

Sienna Miller Chopard BAFTA Awards 2008I remember watching Sienna Miller on Keen Eddie way back when and thinking, she’s a cute British actress. She played the roommate of the main character, an American cop, with fierce bitter tongued lines and spunk. It was enough for me to remember her when she became the big star she is today, known for her split with ex Jude Law, her portrayals of free-spirited but troubled women like Edie Sedgwick in Factory Girl, and her incredible sense of style, spawning a fashion label with her sister just last year. That’s a pretty impressive list of things for only being 26 years old. Here, we see Sienna at the recent BAFTA Awards in London, the British version of the Academy Awards, and a show that is considered to predict winners for the Oscars in the US. Sienna was among more than a half dozen stars who wore Chopard pieces to the awards ceremony, including Julie Christie, Samantha Morton and Harvey Weinstein. Sienna was nominated for The Orange Rising Star Award and dressed in Chopard diamond earrings, an important diamond tennis bracelet and diamond bangle toting 30 karats of diamonds on her wrist alone. I think Sienna was nominated for the right award – she’s definitely a star in my book – and looks dazzling here with her Chopard diamonds.

  • Ebel Watches Keep Up With The Times

    Ebel Discovery Chronograph watch
Ebel watches have really experienced a revival of interest among watch hobbyists lately, and for good reason.  While keeping the essence of their classic watch collections, Ebel has injected some fresh design influences and new mechanical technology that keep things smartly up to date.

Of course, I really admire Ebel’s 1911 BTR watch collection; these sharp luxury timepieces have gotten a lot of press lately, and rightly so–they are youthful and sporty, yet not faddish, have a great element of exclusivity with their new in-house movements.

The new 1911 Discovery Chronograph watches are very nice as well, and by using ETA movements, the price points is kept slightly lower, while not compromising the high quality in any way.  The person who is seeking a finely finished, exclusive chronograph that you won’t see on everyone else’s wrist would be very pleased with the current Ebel watch collection–regardless of which model happens to catch your eye.

  • Omega Constellation watches: So many choices!

    Omega Constellation Quadrella watch
Omega’s super-successful Constellation watch collection is a true luxury success story.  The collection, which has evolved over the years, is certainly one of the all-time best sellers among luxury timepieces, for both men and women.

Men have seen the introduction of the subtly updated Constellation Double Eagle Chronograph watch and the Constellation “My Choice” models which have been enriched with lots of new variants, there are entirely new styles as well.  The Constellation Quadrella (available in Mini and Quartz variations) watch shows off an elegant and stylish tonneau form, and the Constellation Quadra timepiece shows that it sometimes is indeed hip to be square.  The Omega Constellation Quadra watches even offer a chronograph model, for those ladies who want to depart from a simple two-handed time display.  A range of saucy straps and sparkling gemstones in models across the line keep the Omega Constellation watch design luxurious, fun, and extremely feminine.
