Concord C1 Tourbillon Gravity watch
Concord’s C1 Tourbillon Gravity watch is one of the most stunning high-mech tourbillon executions to come out in sometime–after being titillated with partial photographs, Concord has finally released some images of their tour-de-force.

Notable for the fact it DOESN’T place the tourbillon at front and center—this virtuoso Concord watch unites many interesting horological elements which in combination exude a sense of futuristic fascination and high-tech wonder. The amazing multi-tiered dial, with its dizzyingly complex textures and materials invites the viewer on a unique technical adventure; there is a sense of dynamic tension here that creates excitement and makes the watch so much more than the sum of its parts. The trust index and power reserve indicators are fascinating, as is the chronograph, which unites chrono hours and minutes on a single dial.

Then of course, there is the tourbillon itself, found on the side of the watch case–and seemingly disassociated from the rest of the mechanism! It is most unusual, yet incredibly neat. I love the novel small seconds display, which are shown by means of a calibrated disc affixed to the rim of the tourbillon; as the tourbillon undergoes its continual minute-long rotation, the disc shows the passage of seconds (in units of tens) through the aperture just above. So clever!

While my hat is completely off to Concord, I think its also fitting to pay respects to the specialists at BNB Concept, who assisted Concord in the development of the exceptional movement. Their brilliant mechanisms have also been featured in stunning tourbillons presented by Bell & Ross, Hublot, Romain Jerome, Jorg Hysek and other exclusive watchmaking firms.
