SIHH 2008: Audemars Piguet Jules Audemars 30th Anniversary Perpetual Calendar Shows AP’s More Classic Side

I’m always pleased when the non-Royal Oak collections from Audemars Piguet are enriched with new models. As I’ve said before, the Royal Oak and Royal Oak Offshore watch lines get the lion-share of attention (understandably, as these generate the largest sales numbers for the brand), so its good to see the classical collections given some injections now and then. At this year’s SIHH (Salon International de Haute Horlogerie), Audemars Piguet has given us the Jules Audemars 30th Anniversary Perpetual Calendar. What a beautiful watch this is—the combination of the brilliant sun-pattern “Tuscany” blue dial with the platinum case is extremely handsome. Audemars Piguet’s magnificent 2120/2802 caliber movement places this watch among the world’s finest perpetual calendars, bar none.
Audemars Piguet’s decision to go with a 41mm case for this limited edition watch will certainly enhance the desirability of this model with many modern collectors—as will the rarity factor: only 90 examples of the Jules Audemars 30th Anniversary Perpetual Calendar will be produced!
