Concord has certainly shown they are serious about transforming themselves into a  luxury watch dynamo!  Gone is the “grandpa” image which tended to characterize Concord collections of old–what Concord watches now project is cutting-edge sportiness, commanding sizes, exotic materials, and dynamic complications.

The Concord C1 WorldTimer exemplifies the bold new direction of Concord.  A very big watch, at 47mm, this model has a very striking appearance, with its DLC-coated steel case (made up of no less than 53 individual parts).  The interplay between the carbon-patterned black dial and the rotating second timezone indicator is definitely appealing and makes for a watch with lots of attitude.  Yet, the fact that the C1 WorldTimer remains easy to read and use keeps it true to the sports watch ideal.  

I commend Concord for their new direction; they have defined themselves boldly within the luxury watch market, and as such should find great success.  Just making a “nice looking watch” is not enough to stay competitive in today’s highly saturated field; Concord clearly understands this, and has decided to take no prisoners!
