Chronoswiss Grand Opus Chronograph watchThe Chronoswiss Opus Chronograph has been a great success among watch collectors; with its intricately skeletonized chronograph movement, the Opus watch has been a real summation of the “fascination of mechanics” motto that the brand proudly bears.  It is a watch which offers a glimpse into the elements that make mechanical watches so special–a relationship between engineering and art.

Now, Chronoswiss has brought out a 41mm version of their Opus Chronograph, which is larger than the old model by three millimeters.  This is surely an astute move by Gerd Lang and the team at Chronoswiss, as tastes for larger watches have become very pronounced; this is not to say that the 38mm model still doesn’t have plenty of fans, but the Grand Opus Chronograph can recapture a whole new generation of Chronoswiss watch fanatics.

Classicists should not despair.  This watch has lost none of its balance or beauty as a result of the size increase.  If anything, the Grand Opus Chronograph has an even more powerful presence, particularly in the stunning 18K red gold model.  And if you still don’t prefer it, the smaller model still remains a part of the lineup.
