The IWC Pilot’s Watch Chrono-Automatic Edition TOP GUN watch is a great thematic limited edition timepiece. A nice follow up to the brand’s more complicated split-seconds chronograph of the same name, it should allow collectors and IWC fans a chance to obtain a companion chronograph that has an equally cool aura. The neatest feature of these IWC watches, in my opinion, is the case–which is manufactured from a high-tech ceramic made up of zirconium oxide and a binding agent which are fused at a temperature of over 2,000 degrees Celcius.
Combine this high-tech case material with the constructive excellence inherent to the IWC Pilot’s Watches Classic collection (an anti-magnetic shield inside the case, a sapphire crystal secured against drastic pressure changes, an rugged and excellent self-winding movement, etc.) and you have a timepiece which truly lives up to the demanding standards required by such elite combat pilots as those of the US Navy TOP GUN program. The special TOP GUN insignia on the titanium caseback is a nice testament to that.
