The Omega Speedmaster “The Legend” Co-Axial Chronograph is a handsome tribute to the incredible career of F1…legend…Michael Schumacher.  This timepiece has many fine details that link it to the excitement of racing and car design, including the super-sharp carbon fiber dial (whose numeric arrangement nods at Schumacher’s 7 F1 World Titles), and the vertically grooved rubber strap.  Also extremely attractive are the grooved chronograph buttons and crown, which are distinct to this special edition Omega Speedmaster timepiece. 

The only thing I find myself slightly nonplussed by is the bezel ring, which is inscribed with Schumi’s numerous victories.  While it is tastefully done, I just can’t help but feel that a sporty chronograph–especially one which is linked to auto racing–should always have a tachymeter ring.  Placing Schumacher’s distinctions on the back of the watch would have made for a timepiece with broader appeal; as it stands, “The Legend” Speedmaster is most likely to be sought by Omega watch collectors who have little intention of wearing, or the most rabid of Michael Schumacher fans.
