Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Tourbillon watchOk, so you probably won’t take the lovely Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Tourbillon down 3 feet underwater, much less 300 meters.  But, isn’t it nice to know that you can?  Fans of the elegant new Blancpain Fifty Fathoms watch, complete with a beautiful sapphire bezel can now enjoy one of watchmaking’s holiest grails, presented within a polished white or red gold case, and a sporty fabric strap.

While this isn’t the watch I expected to see from Blancpain, in retrospect, its 2007 debut was a completely logical progression.  The distinctly elegant flying tourbillon with a week-long power reserve has appeared in many fine timepieces within the Blancpain’s Villeret and Leman collections, so its appearance in the legendary Fifty Fathoms diver makes a great deal of sense in retrospect.  Like all Blancpain watches, the execution of the Fifty Fathoms Tourbillon is superb–it will be an exceedingly attractive choice for collectors of elite haute horlogerie that enjoy sporty formats.
