What an incredible Emmy night for Tina Fey, creator, star, writer and executive producer of NBC’s hit comedy 30 Rock. Winning Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series at the 60th Annual Emmy Awards was only one of Fey’s feats last night. As a writer for the show, Fey also won for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series and the show itself won several Emmys of its record 17 nominations - among them, a second consecutive win for Outstanding Comedy Series.

As a longtime fan of Fey’s, I’m thrilled of the success she has garnered lately. Watching Weekend Update was certainly a highlight of Saturday Night Live when she was a cast member, and she brought a new type of celebrity to the scene – one with the astuteness that hasn’t been seen in quite some time. Fey was the underdog – and apparently she is aware of that, thanking her parents in her acceptance speech for raising her to “have confidence which is disproportionate with my looks and abilities.” While always funny, Fey seems to downplay her attractiveness, but has rallied a large fan base of men with her library-esque writer’s image – something she seems to love more, saying “it’s great to be a writer because if you’re at a wedding or something, and you tell people that you’re a writer, they’re less interested in talking to you than if you tell them you’re an actor, which is great.”

All jokes aside, Fey delivered her lines with poise – and style – at the Emmys, donning a violet strapless David Meister gown paired with drop diamond earrings, and a plethora of diamond bangles and bracelets. But Fey always has a radiance that outdoes all the diamonds - she has the unique beauty and brains to make it in Hollywood.
