  • Azimuth Twin Barrel Tourbillon Watch: Lamborghini For The Wrist

Posted on February 19th, 2009 Adam Keith 1 comment

In the category of exclusive luxury watches with a car theme, the Azimuth Twin Barrel Tourbillon is a newcomer of note.  Still apparently in the testing phase (but expected to be available from June 2009 onward), this model–which Azimuth says is “not a watch, but a complex modern machine” stands out not just for an innovative mechanical movement, but a strikingly original titanium case which resembles a miniature Lamborghini Murcielago! • Corum Golden Bridge Watch To Appear In Titanium At Baselworld 2009

Posted on February 18th, 2009 Adam Keith 1 comment

New from Swiss watchmaker Corum in 2009, will be a titanium version of its brilliant Golden Bridge timepiece.  While not a major change–more of a theme on a variation–the titanium case ideally suits the beauty and almost ethereal “lightness” of the Golden Bridge watch, with its hand-wound baton movement seeming to float in space. • Breitling B01 Caliber: Breitling’s First Manufacture Chronograph Movement

Posted on February 17th, 2009 Adam Keith No comments

With chronograph watches at the core of Breitling’s brand identity, it was all but an inevitability that the company would present an in-house caliber with this popular complication–we just didn’t know when.  It turns out that the big year is here now.  In March, at Baselworld 2009, Breitling will unveil its first manufacture movement–the Caliber B01.   Continue Reading… »

  • Clerc Odyssey Watch: Inspired By Space, But Not Spaced-Out

Posted on February 16th, 2009 Adam Keith No comments

Swiss luxury watch brand Clerc, whose CEO Vialuxe interviewed in 2008, has shown a new variation of its flagship Odyssey timepiece.  Sharing the same futuristic case design with protectors for crown and push-pieces, this variation shows a silvery white dial that has some different open-working than versions I’ve seen before, as well as a larger graduated scale for the internal rotating bezel. Posted on February 12th, 2009 Adam Keith No comments

While you probably can’t find an actor-watch-car triangle more enduring than that represented by the late Paul Newman, a passionate race-car driver famed for his association with the Rolex Daytona Cosmograph…Patrick Dempsey is making a name for himself here, as well.  The actor and his racing team “Dempsey Racing” competed at the 24 Hours of Daytona recently; not surprisingly, Dempsey wore a JeanRichard watch.

  • Antiquorum March Auction Stars Historic Watches Owned By JFK, Gandhi, Joseph Bonanno, And Patek Philippe Collector Henry Graves Jr.

For those fascinated by the human stories that inevitably accompany watches, Antiquorum’s March 2009 sale is sure to be an event of interest.  Among the many items on the block include a Zenith pocket watch owned by Mahatma Gandhi, a 14K gold Nastrix wristwatch that was a favorite of John F. Kennedy, and a gold Patek Philippe Ref. 1516 watch that mobster Lucky Luciano gifted in 1957 to Joseph Bonanno, Sr. of the infamous Bonanno crime family.

  • Jennifer Hudson Back on Top – with Cartier Jewels

Posted on February 9th, 2009 crystal No comments

The Grammy Awards took place last night and star songstress Jennifer Hudson arrived with Cartier jewels in tow. Hudson, who was a nominee at the awards ceremony, walked the red carpet in this high collar, color block cocktail dress from RM by Roland Mouret, paired with cobalt blue suede Christian Louboutin heels. To top off her radiant look, Hudson went with dangly diamond earrings and a diamond bracelet, both by Cartier. In this image, her engagement ring is apparent, and there is no lack of diamond brilliance on her finger either! Continue Reading… »
