Sandra Bullock has had a very successful career, playing leading ladies in romantic comedies. How is it then, with her new movie The Proposal about to be released, can she declare that she HATES romantic comedies???? Isn’t that her bread and butter? Her claim to fame? Her next leading role? Au contraire says Bullock.

In her new movie The Proposal, Sandra Bullock plays a Canadian born book editor living in the US, who faces deportation because of her immigration status. Her character quickly decides to remedy the situation, by marrying her assistant, played by Ryan Reynolds, who she has tormented professionally for years. Their characters start out hating one another, and end up falling madly in love. Sound funny? PLEASE don’t call it a comedy! Bullock feels it is a romantic drama, reminiscent of films from the 1930s and 1940s. Romance? Drama?
