• Bulgari Diagono Professional Acqua: Nicely Updated In 2008

I’ve always harbored a fair share of admiration for the “Acqua” dive watches from the Bulgari Diagono Professional watch collection.  Sober, as a dive instrument should be, yet subtly stylish, these self-winding timepieces have always seemed a very reasonable luxury watch alternative to the sometimes overwhelmingly profuse Rolex Submariner and Omega Seamaster.

This year, Bulgari did a bit of freshening for the Diagono Professional Acqua, and the results are outstanding.  Continue Reading… »

Bvlgari Calibro 303 Chronograph-A Stylish, Prestigious New Diagono Watch
At Baselworld, Bvlgari revealed a beautiful new chronograph–the Diagono Calibro 303. Bolder than the Bvlgari Diagono watches we already know, this model seems to have a little bit of Hublot influence, sprinkled with a tiny pinch of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and the Patek Philippe Nautilus theme for good measure. • Bvlgari Ergon Watches Delight The Senses With Luxurious, Unusual Design

    Bvlgari Ergon Chronograph watch
The Bvlgari Ergon watches are some of the most confident luxury timepieces on the market.  Rather than pursuing something round, tonneau, or rectangular, the famous house presented a unique case shape whose very name–a derivative of the Greek word “ergos”–suggests something that is flowing, comfortable, and easy to use.

Personally, I think the Bvlgari Ergon is a handsome, refreshing watch design.  Of the several models that the collection encompasses, I prefer the Chronograph, whose comparatively complex dial seems particularly suited to the intricacies of the Ergon watch case.  Especially stunning is the ultra-luxurious 18K white gold version of this modern Bvlgari watch, which has a wonderful heft.  It captivates the eye too, with its lustrously gleaming case, and rich slate gray dial with polished indices and vertical line-pattern decoration.  Admirable too, is the way in which the crocodile strap is meticulously crafted to flow with the shape of the strikingly sculpted lugs.

The sense of harmony the Ergon watch embodies is something that fans of Bvlgari have come to expect time and time again from this very design-savvy house.

  • Try the Bvlgari Diagono Aluminum if you are Looking for a Great Weekend Watch

    Bvlgari Diagono Aluminum Chronograph watch
Titanium, once an uncommon and exotic material for use in luxury watches, has become much more widespread, as manufacturing techniques have evolved.  If you like the feathery weight of titanium, and enjoy its great feel and durability, but are getting the itch for something different, you might consider a more uncommon alternative–aluminum.

The Bvlgari Diagono Aluminum watch features a case made from ultra-tough aluminum, a challenging material to machine with the extreme precision required for a water resistant watch case.  Like titanium, its purity makes it a great choice for anyone who has allergies to many metals, and of course it is also very, very lightweight.

Bvlgari has done a great job with this Diagono watch variant which combines aluminum with rubber and carbon fiber in a very appealing way that really emphasizes a casual, very sporty type of luxury.  I really can’t think of a watch that epitomizes the “weekend watch” more than this one–stylish, easy to wear, and low key, its nonetheless very high quality and sophisticated while being able to endure the elements well.

  • Bvlgari and Chopard – Edgy Dress Watches

    Bvlgari Bvlgari-Bvlgari XL watch

Connoisseurs seeking a dress watch today have more choices than ever before. In the past, dressy watches were pretty much one flavor—small, and usually very conservatively styled. While many very fine watches of this type are still available, there are also a range of watches which dress up well, but offer a more offbeat aesthetic which will appeal to those seeking a bit more edge.

The Chopard L.U.C Twist, and the Bvlgari Bvlgari-Bvlgari XL watches both exemplify this type of unconventional dress watch. These watches share in common the feature of intricate two-tone dials which have strikingly differentiated hemispheres bearing different textures; very different from the monochromatic aspect of traditional dressy watches, these dials are extremely elegant but are unusual and immediately striking, as well. Larger sized cases of 41mm respectively, as well as an unusual off-set crown in the Chopard also differentiate these watches from the old school norm.

With extremely fine movements (a re-worked Frederic Piguet manual wind in the Bvlgari, and a Geneva Seal-hallmarked Manufacture caliber in the Chopard), luxurious 18K gold cases, and superb straps, these watches satisfy the expectation for uncompromising quality which has always been associated with the best dress watches.

  • The Bulgari Assioma – Style & Function with an Italian flair

Bulgari Assioma ChronographWhile Bvlgari is best known for thier jewelry and accessories this Italian luxury goods maker has been making inroads into the world of fine watchmaking. Until now Bvlgari has steered clear of the big beefy watch trend…that is until they launched the Assioma. This is a watch that even Viny Chase and the boys on Entourage would be happy to wear around LA. The Assioma has a totally distinct and “big” look with its curved rectangular case with the Bvlgari brand boldly etched into the top and bottom edges of the bezel. We like this watch because it wears much like a bracelet and calls attention to ones wrist. If you want a super beefy look go with the all steel bracelet model.
