Katherine Heigl – Oscar Trends- Chopard, Bvlgari, Van Cleef Jewelry
Posted on February 28th, 2008 No comments
Katherine Heigl, Grey’s Anatomy, Knocked Up and 27 Dresses star, is seen here on Oscar Sunday leaving her home. She is dressed in a vibrant red off the shoulder Escada gown, with Ryan Ryan jewels, and Jimmy Choo shoes and clutch. With her blonde locks curled and crimson lips, she is a throwback to Old Hollywood and looks gorgeous doing so. I’m a huge fan of Katherine’s simple glamour and her character in 27 Dresses – nutty, neurotic, and down-to-earth, she stole the show. I can’t wait for Grey’s to be back!Katherine’s look was echoed in many variations and colors at the Oscars, since red hues were popular, as well as upswept hair with curls or waves. Anne Hathaway, Miley Cyrus and Helen Mirren were all dressed in garnet shades by Marchesa, Valentino, and Georges Chakra, respectively. Heidi Klum wore red as well, her dress by John Galliano for Dior will be auctioned for The Heart Truth Campaign.
Other memorable Oscar looks: Jennifer Garner wore her hair in a loose chignon with flowing eye grazing bangs and completed her black strapless Oscar de la Renta with Van Cleef & Arpels diamonds. Chopard dressed Penelope Cruz’s strapless black feather dress and Hilary Swank’s one shoulder Atelier Versace number, Penelope with 25 carat ruby and diamond earrings, diamond bracelet and 6 carat marquise cut diamond ring and Hilary with large 9 carat round drop diamond earrings, flower diamond hairclips and snowflake diamond bracelet. Cameron Diaz opted for Bvlgari platinum earrings and a diamond ring for her Dior by John Galliano pale pink fishtail dress.
Substantial necklaces were also a trend. Keri Russell, draped in Nina Ricci, wore 46 carats of H. Stern around her neck, with his Vintage floral necklace and floral diamond earrings. Newly pregnant and on the arm of hubby Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman wore a black Balenciaga and a 1,399 carat L’Wren Scott multi strand necklace baring 7,645 diamonds. Best Actress winner Marion Cotillard wore a custom made white halter Jean Paul Gaultier gown with 185 total carats of Chopard: their champagne diamond briolette necklace, light and dark brown diamond bead necklaces, and a 15 carat square yellow diamond ring.
All in all, Oscar saw lots of gorgeous ladies on Sunday, a wonderful way to cap a lulled Hollywood awards season.

Ellen Page – Juno grabs 4 Academy Awards Nominations
Posted on February 22nd, 2008 No comments
Ellen Page is up for a Best Actress Oscar for Juno this Sunday, and I will be rooting loudly and proudly…from my living room.I can’t imagine what it’s like to play a 16 year old pregnant teenager on the big screen, nor can I even fathom what it would feel like to be pregnant at that age either. Thankfully, we all have Ellen Page to thank for giving us insight into how it would feel, and the rest of the brilliant cast of Juno to react to her character with hugely unexpected remarks. With her representation of writer Diablo Cody’s Juno, Page is witty, snappy, bitter and downright hilarious. Lines like “I’m just gonna go ahead and nip this thing in the bud. ‘Cause you know, they say pregnancy often leads to, you know – infants,” and “You should’ve gone to China, you know, ‘cause I hear they give away babies like free iPods” are definitely not phrases you hear every day, let alone think of saying or even contemplate how to deliver to get the right tone and reaction from an audience.
I can’t gush enough about this film and about Ellen Page’s performance; Juno is smart and fresh, which is surprising for a small movie about a pregnant teenager on a quest to find the perfect parents for her unborn child. Page alone has already won awards from the National Board of Review and Satellite Awards, while the film has gained several wins of best comedy or movie and best original screenplay or writer at those awards, in addition to the BAFTA, Critic’s Choice, Writers Guild of America and Rome Film Fest Awards.
If you haven’t seen Juno, run out to the theater now! Once you see it, you’ll understand why everyone is rooting for this seemingly underdog of a movie that has turned into a huge gem of indie films this year.

Chopard Necklaces and Chopard Jewelry A Favorite on the Oscars Red Carpet
Posted on February 22nd, 2008 No commentsChopard necklaces and jewelry, like this one here, are annual favorites of the Hollywood stars for the Oscars.
Year after year, the A list celebrities can be seen proudly wearing Chopard diamonds. Last year, we saw less diamond necklaces and more bracelets and earrings. This year, however, we could see a change in the tides in which Chopard necklaces make a strong comeback.
The nominees for actress in a leading role include Cate Blancett (”Elizabeth: The Golden Age”), Julie Christie (”Away from Her”), Marion Cotillard (”La Vie en Rose”), Laura Linney (”The Savages”), and Ellen Page (”Juno”).
The nominees for actress in a suporting role include Cate Blanchett, again, (”I’m Not There”), Ruby Dee (”American Gangster”), Saoirse Ronan (”Atonement”), Any Ryan (”Gone Baby Gone”) and Tilda Swinton (”Michael Clayton”).
Of all of these talented actresses, I envision Cate Blanchett, Marion Cotillard and perhaps Julie Christie as the most likely of the these nominees to wear Chopard necklaces of any of their other fine luxury jewelry.

Matthew Perry at the W Magazine Oscar Pre-Party
Posted on February 22nd, 2008 2 comments
Who doesn’t appreciate a good friend – even if he is a little shabby ?
With a casual look, Friends star Matthew Perry is a bit underdressed for the W Magazine Oscar Pre-Party and doesn’t seem to care either. He doesn’t seem to have his usual Matt Perry charm about him. He’s barely giving us a closed-mouth smile and I think he could use a hair-cut and maybe even a shave. Was he aware this was an Oscar pre-party?
So, what has the former Mr. Chandler Bing been up to since his New York “Friends” days?
He had a couple of one episode roles on different TV shows including “Scrubs”and “Friday Night Lights.” He also starred in a couple of films including Hoosiers II: Senior Year, Numb and The Ron Clark Story as the title character.
His biggest endeavor was his role as Matt Albie on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip – a behind-the-scenes look at a fictional sketch-comedy TV show – created by Aaron Sorkin. The ensemble cast included the likes of Amanda Peet (his former co-star from The Whole Nine Yards movies – funny!), Bradley Whitford of The West Wing drama TV series (I loved that show!) and comedian D.L. Hughley and a whole bunch of others.
Matthew Perry’s latest project is a film to be released late this summer called “Seventeen Again.” You can imagine what this movie is about: a man whose life didn’t quite go the way he wanted, wakes up one day to find himself 17 again and with the chance to re-write his life. Luckily for us, this movie is a comedy so I bet he’ll be at his best.
Now only if Matthew Perry could have been at his best here at the W Magazine Oscar Pre-Party… and what will he wear to the Oscars? Will he at least get a haircut and a shave and not wear jeans?

Oscar Pre-Party Complete with Superhero Sara Paxton
Posted on February 21st, 2008 No comments
At the W Magazine Oscar Pre-Party on Wednesday night the 20th, Sara Paxton – the latest dame of the superhero genre – arrived wearing a one-shoulder little black dress. The petite actress stars as Jill Johnson, the love interest of the Rick Riker aka The Dragonfly, in the upcoming film Superhero Movie. While this movie is sure to be entertaining and full of slapstick comedy, I don’t foresee any Oscar nominations in its future any time soon. The film, directed by Craig Mazin and from the creators of Scary Movie and the Naked Gun dynasty, will follow in its predecessors footsteps of spoof, spoof and more spoof til the very last frame.
Her dramatic attire at the Oscar pre-party, complete with dark eyes, showed off her serious and mysterious ways. Devoid of glam jewelry – or any designer jewelry for that matter – she looks a bit unready for the night ahead of her. But, we won’t hold it against her.
Instead, we’ll keep our eye out for this drama lady in the Superhero Movie and also on the red carpet this Sunday.

George Clooney and Michael Clayton go to the Oscars
Posted on February 21st, 2008 No comments
It’s hard to believe how long it’s been since George Clooney was on Sisters. Maybe I just aged myself, but I wasn’t actually supposed to be watching that show at my age, fyi. And then there was ER… and alas, Ocean’s Eleven and Twelve … and Thirteen. Let’s just say that I’m a fan – George has dashing good looks, charm and seems to have more fun than anyone with the same job. Life must be great for this Omega Ambassador, who favors the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean and De Ville Hour Vision watches, and just graced the cover of Time Magazine as “The Last Movie Star.”George is nominated for an Academy Award for Michael Clayton, which came out on DVD this week, just in time for the Oscars. The film nabbed seven nominations in all, including Supporting Actor/Actress, Original Screenplay, Direction, Best Original Score and Best Picture. I think the film was excellent – a legal thriller with some great twists and smart moves by Clooney’s Michael Clayton – as well as superb performances by his cast mates Tom Wilkinson and Tilda Swinton. I’ll be rooting for all the Michael Clayton nominees on Sunday!

Cate Blanchett for Queen [Elizabeth] of the Oscars
Posted on February 20th, 2008 1 comment
Cate Blanchett has played many memorable characters in her successful movie career: debutante Meredith in The Talented Mr. Ripley, Elf Queen Galadriel in the Lord of The Rings trilogy, Katherine Hepburn in The Aviator (for which she won Oscar, BAFTA and SAG Awards), and Queen Elizabeth in both Elizabeth (with Golden Globe, BAFTA and Critics Choice Awards wins) and Elizabeth: The Golden Age. Blanchett’s hard work has been rewarded with two nominations this year: one for Best Actress for Elizabeth: The Golden Age and one for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal as Bob Dylan in I’m Not There; Blanchett will make history if she wins both nominations, as no actress has ever won both at the same awards. There is no doubt that whether she walks away with both awards or not, that Blanchett will look stunning on the red carpet, not unlike how we see her here at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala. Clearly, Blanchett has original style, as she was on Mr. Blackwell’s Best Dressed List last year, and she’ll surely shine with designers waiting at hand to dress her in their digs. In the past, Blanchett has rocked Lorraine Schwartz’s black and green jade bracelet and black and white diamond earrings, Fred Leighton baubles, and has favored gown designs by Armani, Alexander McQueen and Valentino for her winning looks. I can’t wait to see what she wears on the red carpet this Sunday… and I’m waiting to see her next performance as the bad girl in the newest Indiana Jones!

Natalie Portman Favored Kwiat Diamonds at the 79th Academy Awards
Posted on February 19th, 2008 No comments
Who doesn’t love Natalie Portman ?She is a real darling of the Silver Screen. Some have even called her “the next Audrey Hepburn.”
Her acting career started with her debut role in the film Leon (1994) (aka “The Professional”). She starred in three other movies before landing her role as Queen/Senator Amidala in the huge blockbuster film Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace.
Natalie Portman continues to be in the spotlight when she strolls the red carpet. Her first nomination was in 2005 for best actress in a supporting role for “Closer.” She wore chic Kwiat earrings of diamonds and onyx at the 2007 post-Oscar Vanity Fair party.
Without a nomination last year, she enjoyed the view from her seat and the party afterwards. However, there are many roles for which Natalie could have scored a nomination including her roles in the Star Wars films and V for Vendetta.
For those fans of the mega-talented actresses awaiting her future movies, she has made it public that she will be taking on limited acting roles for the next four years as she attends Harvard to become a psychologist. What a lady !!
Will Natalie Portman be at the 2008 80th Annual Academy Awards this Sunday ?
If she does attend, will she chose Kwiat again ?

Kwiat Diamonds on Portia de Rossi on the Red Carpet of the 79th Academy Awards
Posted on February 19th, 2008 No comments
At the 2007 79th Annual Academy Awards, Kwiat Diamonds made a big statement on the red carpet. Worn by the talented Portia de Rossi, the Kwiat bracelet and Kwiat diamond earrings dazzled as she walked the red carpet and gently tossed her hair.Probably bext known for her role as lawyer Nell Porter on Ally McBeal back in the late 90s and early 2000s, she went on star in Arrested Develpment as Lindsay Bluth Funke from 2003 – 2006 and then as Olivia Lord in Nip/Tuck in 2007.
Wearing a navy blue, satin, halter-top style dress and her hair pulled back in a low pony tail, she showed off radiant face with small, drop diamond earrings at the 2007 Awards. She was accompanied by her partner stand-up-comedienne-turned-casual-talk-show-host Ellen DeGeneres. Ellen donned a trendy velvet ladies suit also in navy with a light blue shirt topped with a navy handkerchief and a large watch.
With the 2008 Annual Academy Awards coming up this Sunday, will we see more Kwiat Diamonds on Portia de Rossi … or other actresses ?

Chopard Jewelry on Sienna Miller at the 2008 BAFTA Awards
Posted on February 14th, 2008 No comments
I remember watching Sienna Miller on Keen Eddie way back when and thinking, she’s a cute British actress. She played the roommate of the main character, an American cop, with fierce bitter tongued lines and spunk. It was enough for me to remember her when she became the big star she is today, known for her split with ex Jude Law, her portrayals of free-spirited but troubled women like Edie Sedgwick in Factory Girl, and her incredible sense of style, spawning a fashion label with her sister just last year. That’s a pretty impressive list of things for only being 26 years old. Here, we see Sienna at the recent BAFTA Awards in London, the British version of the Academy Awards, and a show that is considered to predict winners for the Oscars in the US. Sienna was among more than a half dozen stars who wore Chopard pieces to the awards ceremony, including Julie Christie, Samantha Morton and Harvey Weinstein. Sienna was nominated for The Orange Rising Star Award and dressed in Chopard diamond earrings, an important diamond tennis bracelet and diamond bangle toting 30 karats of diamonds on her wrist alone. I think Sienna was nominated for the right award – she’s definitely a star in my book – and looks dazzling here with her Chopard diamonds.
