A. Lange & Sohne Cabaret Tourbillon Wins "Watch of the Year 2009" At Baselworld
By Adam Keith, Associate Timepiece Editor for ViaLuxe-

At Baselworld 2009, the A. Lange & Sohne Cabaret Tourbillon watch received a worthy honor fully in accord with its exceptional degree of horological excellence.  Readers of German publications Welt am Sonntag and Armbanduhren voiced their preference, and chose this rectangular tourbillon wristwatch as the winner in the 2009 "Men's Watches" category.  In all, more than 150 luxury watches across a variety of international brands were represented among possible choices for the readership.

The A. Lange & Sohne Cabaret Tourbillon is unique among luxury timepieces bearing the prestigious complication first conceived by Abraham-Louis Breguet at the turn of the 19th century.  It is the first--and only--watch with a tourbillon escapement to incorporate a stop seconds function.  When the crown is withdrawn, the cage and balance wheel come to a precise halt, enabling the watch to be synchronized with a time signal.  The in-house Lange L.961.1 caliber also features two barrels for a lengthy 5-day power reserve, an indicator showing the state of the reserve, and the signature A. Lange & Sohne outsized date display.
