Despite a shaky economic atmosphere, Antiquorum achieved notable results in its spring auction at the Grand Hotel Kempinski in Geneva on March 15-16, surpassing the 2007 spring sale results by 50%. Total sales were $9.7 million, and comprised 806 lots. Telephone bidding during the sale was intense, and competition was also strong from registered Internet bidders, who numbered over 400.
The sale had many highlights. These included a steel and 18K gold Rolex Submariner once owned by F1 race car driver Ayrton Senna, which sold for Sfr. 36,000--approximately four times its pre-sale estimate. Other notable items included a platinum A. Lange & Sohne "Pour le Merite" tourbillon watch (lot 243),a Patek Philippe "Ref. 2499 Fourth Series" (lot 413) and a yellow gold Gerald Genta Grande Sonnerie wristwatch (lot 241).
