Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Forged Carbon Watch For 2009

For those people who aren’t watch lovers and know the Audemars Piguet name or look well, this new watch is something that can be considered to be “non obvious luxury.” Welcome to Audemars Piguet’s new Royal Oak Offshore Forged Carbon ref. 26176FO.OO.D101CR.01 watch. For the most part the luxury elements of this timepiece are hidden or require special knowledge to understand. For example, the complexity of the case and difficultly of its construction is non-evident – forged carbon cases are extremely difficult to make properly. Then there is the new Audemars Piguet manufacture made Calibre 3126/3840 automatic chronograph movement with its solid gold automatic rotor and high level of hand finishing - that is hidden in the case.

Carbon cases are very light and strong. The bezel and strap links are black ceramic, while the caseback is blackened steel. Just looking at this watch at a glance would yield little sign of this complex construction. The dial is standard Royal Oak Offshore in style with clear Arabic numerals and easy to read chronograph subdials. The square block pattern of the dial is known as “Mega Tapestry.” While the watch looks big, it is actually only 42mm wide, but with a big and bold presence. While orange colored sport watches are common, yellow is not as common, and this bumble bee hued rugged watch certainly at least gets the aesthetic attention it deserves. The numerals are yellow as well as the chronograph seconds hand, and tachymeter scale on the dial chapter ring. The strap is black alligator with yellow contrast stitching –a great look. Audemars Piguet and watch enthusiasts will love the watch, but not everyone will be so aware of your $20,000 - $30,000 plus timepiece investment.
