You don’t often see a watch that has been dedicated to a highway. A lot of the time limited edition watches are dedicated to important people or events, and in this instance a highway is iconic enough to garner a special edition luxury Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore timepiece. This is the Montauk Highway limited edition watch in just 300 pieces.

New Yorkers will be very familiar with the 100 mile long Montauk Highway. It is the popular stretch of road that connects New York City to the ritzy Hamptons area. The luxurious Hamptons lifestyle lends itself to interest in high-end timepieces and the Royal Oak Offshore Montauk Highway way is celebrating this fact. The watch is based on the very popular Royal Oak Offshore chronograph watch with a special caseback and color scheme. The dial is an off-white color with a Mega Tapisserie engraved guilloche pattern while the hands, Arabic numeral hour markers, and chapter ring are all in an aquamarine color. The chronograph subdials are in a chocolate brown that is matched by the Hornback crocodile leather strap that has contrast stitching where the aquamarine color shows up again. I’ve never seen a timepiece with this sort of color scheme and I have to say that as uncommon as it is, it seems to work nicely.

Inside the watch is an Audemars Piguet in-house made caliber 3126/2840 automatic chronograph movement. The case is in steel while an iron core helps protect the movement. The watch arrives in a special wooden box shaped a bit like a bridge for the Montauk Highway limited edition watch and has a retail price of $20,500. This Audemars Piguet watch will be exclusively available in New York City, Bal Harbour Florida, and in London Jewelers on Long Island in New York.
