Basel 2008: Longines Master Collection Retrograde Watches

The Longines Master Collection has gained new timepieces which showcase a striking combination of retrograde functions.  Presented in an 18K rose gold case in a 41 or 44mm size, the Master Collection Retrograde watches display an elegant silver-colored dial with a barleycorn guilloche pattern, and blued steel hands.  These watches are accented by alligator straps with triple deployant clasps, and feature sapphire crystals.

Two models are available.  The Longines Master Collection Retrograde watch features retrograde day and small seconds at the upper and lower sections of the dial, while the date is shown at 3 o'clock; at 9 o'clock is the retrograde display for the second timezone.  On the Master Collection Retrograde Power Reserve watch, the small seconds display is replaced with a power reserve indicator, which shows the level of tension stored in the mainspring.  In either model, the fascinating interplay of to-and-fro displays creates an attractive and captivating technical exhibition.  

Each of the Longines Master Collection Retrograde watches are animated by a self-winding movement based upon an ETA ebauche.  Balance wheel frequency is 28,800 alternations per hour, and the power reserve is 46 hours.  A transparent sapphire crystal window in the caseback allows a view of the decorative refinements, which include circular graining and a Longines-personalized rotor.
