The Omega Speedmaster "The Legend" Co-Axial Chronograph watch pays tribute to the legendary Formula One champion Michael Schumacher, considered by many to be the greatest race car driver of all time. The stylistic cues on this watch, and its composition of high tech materials call to mind the unprecedented achievements of the champion, as well as the high-octane excitement of Formula One.
Crafted from stainless steel, the 44.25mm case of this special Omega Speedmaster watch is refined with contrasting brushed and polished elements, and fitted with a sapphire crystal that is treated with anti-reflective coating on both sides; the aluminum bezel ring features inscriptions which denote Schumacher's many achievements in the world of racing. Carbon fiber, a material critical to the construction of high-performance racing machines, is used for the dial. The chronograph 12-hour and 30-minute counters are distinguished by contrasting silver rings, and the hours of 1 to 7 feature Arabic numerals which signify Michael Schumacher's record seven Formula One World Titles. The watch is completed by a rubber strap whose grooved pattern evokes that of a high performance racing tire, and a stainless steel Speedmaster bracelet in brushed and polished stainless steel is also available. Water resistance of the timepiece is 100 meters.
The Omega Speedmaster "The Legend" Co-Axial Chronograph watch is animated by the exclusive Omega 3313 caliber, a prestigious self-winding mechanism which has earned a COSC chronometer certificate. The chronograph mechanism, which offers both a 12-hour and 30-minute counter, is controlled by a column-wheel and features vertical-clutch coupling for optimal operating precision and reliability. A highlight of this movement is the free-sprung balance wheel with the proprietary Omega Co-Axial escapement--this element greatly reduces friction, and contributes to long-term timekeeping performance, as well as reduced service intervals. The finely decorated caliber is protected beneath a caseback that bears the inscription "Michael Schumacher-The Legend Collection". Power reserve of the movement is 52 hours.
