To commemorate the recent alliance between Swiss watchmaker Blancpain and Automobili Lamborghini that created the Super Trofeo racing series, Blancpain has announced an uncompromisingly sporty flyback chronograph, limited to an edition of just 300 pieces.   Featuring a sleek design not seen before in a Blancpain timepiece, the Super Trofeo Chronograph showcases materials and design elements directly inspired by the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 supercar.  

The Blancpain Super Trofeo Chronograph watch case measures a robust 43.5mm in diameter and is fitted with a curved sapphire crystal.  Manufactured from stainless steel and treated with highly resistant DLC (Diamond-like Carbon) its profile evokes the aggressively sleek profile of the Gallardo body.  Suggestive of a brake caliper, the chronograph start button is in brilliant red.  The bold red numerals on the two-tone black dial at 9 and 12 o'clock pay homage to the numbers emblazoned upon the 30 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 cars competing in the Super Trofeo series.  Alcantara, the tactile exotic material from which Lamborghini seats are constructed also serves for the strap of this daring Blancpain timepiece.

Such exceptional attention to detail extends to the refined column-wheel controlled Calibre F185 chronograph movement.  The NAC electroplating technique has been employed to completely blacken the bridges and plate of this prestigious mechanism of 308 individual parts, resulting in a uniquely dynamic impression that perfectly matches the case and the car-inspired design theme.  An exclusive "Super Trofeo 2009" inscription decorates the blackened gold central rotor.  A balance frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour enables the chronograph to record independent time periods with 1/6th second precision, within short periods up to 30 minutes, or longer intervals of up to 12 hours.  A date function is also present.  Power reserve of the Calibre F185 is 40 hours.

Each of the 300 Blancpain Super Trofeo Chronograph watches will be delivered in a special presentation box that evokes the Lamborghini Gallardo sports car.  The timepiece is water resistant to 100 meters.
