The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms watch is one of the coolest dive sport watches ever manufactured. The history behind this watch is what makes it so unique. Blancpain first created the Fifty Fathoms watch in 1954 for the French Navy. At the time a French Naval officer names Robert Maloubier was searching the market for a dive watch rugged enough to meet the strict requirements of the “Naguers de Combat” an elite combat swimmers unit similar to the Navy Seals. He was unable to find a suitable watch and contacted Blancpain and together they created the Fifty Fathoms.
Blancpain offers three different bracelet choices. The first is an all steel bracelet. The all steel is a great look if you want a sport watch that can be worn to work. The Steel and rubber bracelet version is unique because the black rubber on the bracelet is matched with a rubber edge on the bezel, and with a rubber crown. The all rubber bracelet has a true dive watch look and can be worn in the most rugged conditions. Blancpain now offers the Fifty Fathoms in a Galvanic Blue dial in addition to the classic all black dial.
