Bulgari Supports Save the Children Campaign, With Special Edition watches and Jewelry

When I hear about the Save the Children Campaign, the first thing that comes to mind are those old commercials of Sally Struthers pleading “help feed the children!” Apparently Save the Children has come a long way since then and is not about educating the children (with their new Rewrite the Future Campaign) as opposed to just feeding them. Bulgari has dedicated to help raise 10 million euros by the end of 2009, 1 million of which they are personally donating. The rest will come from the sales of special edition jewelry and timepieces including a ring and pendant, with a total of 11 jewelry items and 7 timepieces. Take the ring that features “Save the Children” engraved on the inside of the ring, and “S. Bulgari” (for the brand’s founder Sotirio Bulgari) engraved on the outside. Prices vary and the silver rings for example have a price of $555 available at select department store and through Bulgari’s e-commerce site online.

A list of celebrities have endorsed Bulgari’s support of Save the Children’s Rewrite the Future campaign. The one I find most interesting is Barbie. Yes, the toy doll Barbie from Mattel. I find it so encouraging that an illiterate and inanimate object is so dedicated to encouraging her potential clientele to read – no matter their socio-economic status. Barbie has even supplied a photograph of herself wearing the silver Bulgari Save the Children ring. I don’t know whether the Barbie-sized version of the ring is widely available, but it should be available in most standard human sizes. Other celebrities who so far support the campaign are: Julianne Moore, Benicio Del Toro, Ben Stiller, Sally Field, Sting, Willem Dafoe, Rosario Fiorello, Gabriele Muccino, Jason Lewis, Andy Garcia, Valeria Golino, Isabella Rossellini and Debra Messing.
