Basel 2008: Cartier Ballon Bleu de Cartier Tourbillon Watch

The Cartier Ballon Bleu de Cartier Tourbillon watch will be Cartier's first timepiece to showcase the brand's new 9452MC tourbillon movement, which has received the Geneva Seal.  This manufacture caliber, produced in Cartier's Meyrin-based workshop, is made up of 19 jewels, and 142 hand-finished parts.  The tourbillon features a flying construction, and turns on its axis once per minute.  Balance wheel frequency is 21,600 alternations per hour, and the movement's power reserve is 50 hours.

The Ballon Bleu de Cartier Tourbillon watch is crafted in 18K gold, and its case measures 46mm across.  Sapphire crystals are fitted to both sides, allowing a flawlessly clear view of the finely decorated movement, and the stunning three-dimensional silvered dial with its contrasting satinized and guilloche sections.  The unmistakable signature of the Cartier Ballon Bleu de Cartier collection--a distinctive protected crown with a blue sapphire cabochon--is of course present.  A crocodile strap is fitted to the watch, contributing to the elegant appearance of this prestigious model.
