Chopard Developing High Frequency Escapement Chopard Technologies S.A., based in Fleurier, Switzerland, is perfecting an innovative new escapement, which will attain an unprecedented, high frequency balance wheel oscillation rate--a factor that is generally accepted in horology to bear greatly upon the accuracy of a timepiece.  Currently, most mechanical watches have balance wheels that alternate 28,800 times per hour; Chopard's new escapement will attain a significantly greater value, between 57,600 and 72,000 alternations per hour.

These new horological achievements by Chopard could not be attained by conventional mechanical engineering solutions, and the brand has filed two patent applications to protect their work in this area.  Currently, a multitude of laboratory tests are taking place to bring this groundbreaking new innovation to its ultimate potential.
