Dustin Hoffman Trains Kung Fu Panda

Dustin Hoffman has had his pick in movie roles since his breakout film, The Graduate. His latest film, Kung Fu Panda, is animated, and Hoffman lends his voice for Shifu, a big eared furry creature who is a Kung Fu master. Hoffman’s character holds the position of trainer to the elite Kung Fu warriors of China. He is given the daunting task of training, and pretty much transforming, the overweight and uncoordinated Po the Panda (Jack Black) into a Kung Fu hero who can save China from the escaped prisoner Tai Lung. Out today, Kung Fu Panda seems like a great way to put Hoffman’s comedy skills in full effect, if only with his voice. We’ve laughed out loud at his stints as Bernie Focker in Meet the Fockers, and of course the quirky professor in Stranger Than Fiction.
So in Hoffman’s watch history, what have we seen? In Marathon Man, Hoffman had a Rolex Submariner, and his role in The Graduate inspired the name of the Girard-Perregaux Laureato, which is the Italian translation of the movie title. But which watch would Shifu wear? Perhaps an animated version of the Bell & Ross BR01 Tourbillon would fit the bill? All black, carbon fiber, and lots of power seem right on for the Kung Fu master.
