Elton John: Channeling Liberace

Often with tremendous creative talent, comes tremendous eccentricity. Case in point: Elton John. Flamboyant costumes, stage theatrics and tantrums have frequently led Elton John to be referred to as the ‘Liberace of Rock and Roll’.

There is no question that Elton John can be considered both a legend and a hero in the music world and beyond. His musical successes are unsurpassed, his Elton John AIDS Foundation has become one of the world’s largest non profit AIDS organizations, and he has even been knighted by Queens Elizabeth II herself. Can a star of such accomplishment not be given any sort of fashion guidance???

Recently Elton John vacationed in St. Tropez with husband David Furnish. Seen here heading out for a boat cruise on the French Riviera, Elton John seems ready for Halloween! Dressed in Black, he is wearing a “boatload” of gold jewelry, all adorned with skulls. With these earrings, rings, bracelet and necklaces, he is the perfect combination of Avril Lavigne and Liberace! Fortunately, he has not abandoned good taste when it comes to his watch: he is wearing his solid gold Cartier Pasha. Elton John LOVES gold watches and has a large collection. In fact, watchmakers Chopard even make an ‘Elton John AIDS’ watch, in support of his foundation!

Does anyone believe this much gold jewelry looks good on a man?
