Gerald Genta Mickey Tokyo Resort Limited Edition Watch

It would actually be funny if this watch was sold only at Tokyo Disney, but I have feeling you will be able to get it at a few other places as well. Watch maker Gerald Genta has had a longstanding relationship with Disney to create Disney character (mainly Mickey) themed luxury timepieces. The newest one is meant to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Disney Tokyo resort. As such, on the dial of the timepiece Mickey is holding a diamond located at “25” on the retrograde hour scale, while the position of the jumping hour window is skewed to the left. A traditional red seconds hand revolves around the dial, while the lower half of the watch face has another Mickey pointing to a retrograde date indicator. Most every Gerald Genta watch has some “retrograde” component.

The watch case is in titanium making it quite light, and the design is typical of Gerald Genta, but quite subdued actually. Inside is an automatic mechanical movement with a solid gold rotor. The movement itself is done in an “antique gold” color known as a “potter finish” that alludes to the heritage of the brand and the 80 years the world has known Mickey Mouse. Many people in Japan are avid Disney enthusiasts, as well as watch lovers. The Gerald Genta Mickey Tokyo Resort watch will be part of a limited edition of just 80, expected to be snatched up quickly.
