Swiss watchmaker Girard-Perregaux has crafted a unique Vintage 1945 Tourbillon watch, to accompany the exceptional Pininfarina Hyperion--a one-off design based on the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe.
The Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 Tourbillon created to celebrate the Pininfarina Hyperion is presented in 18K gold, on a creme-colored alligator strap. Showcasing the brand's famous gold-bridge tourbillon, this model presents some details which are found on no other Girard-Perregaux watch. The dial is rendered in a striking shade of blue, which matches the color of the Hyperion bodywork. Girard-Perregaux has created a unique case mounting system, which enables the rectangular case to be withdrawn and clipped onto the dashboard. The case frame is engraved with the silhouette of the Hyperion name and a silhouette of the car.
The Pinifarina/Rolls-Royce Hyperion car was unveiled at the 2008 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, and represents the last design of famed Italian designer Andrea Pininfarina, who died in a tragic road accident at 51 years of age. The Hyperion came about as a collaboration between Mr. Pininfarina and Roland Hall, an avid automobile enthusiast who desired a special 1930's-inspired custom execution of his Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe.
