2008 represents the 20th anniversary of the Colorado Grand, a 1000-mile American rally which unites 75 race and sporting automobiles built prior to 1961. To commemorate this festive event, which will take place from September 15-20, Swiss watch brand Girard-Perregaux has introduced a limited edition flyback chronograph to be produced in a series of 50 pieces.
The Girard-Perregaux Flyback Chronograph "Colorado Grand" is presented exclusively in stainless steel, and measures 40mm in diameter. A curved sapphire crystal protects a finely detailed silver dial whose many appealing details include rose gold-colored hands and hour indices, tasteful red accents, blued hands on the chronograph subdials, and the Colorado Grand symbol. The same symbol is featured on the sapphire crystal exhibition back.
The flyback chronograph complication, with its ability to trigger successive timing intervals without a stop, has long been prized by those in the world of auto racing. Accordingly, the Girard-Perregaux Flyback Chronograph "Colorado Grand" has just such a sophisticated function. The self-winding GP337A movement is manufactured by Girard-Perregaux, and offers a chronograph hour and minute totalizer, in addition to small seconds and a date display. Balance wheel frequency of the GP337A movement is 28,800 vibrations per hour, and power reserve is 46 hours.
Available exclusively for the United States market, this limited edition Girard-Perregaux watch features a light brown strap in alligator leather, and a stainless steel deployant buckle. The timepiece is water resistant to 30 meters.
