Girard Perregaux Richeville Perpetual Calendar Watch

Girard Perregaux has long been known for their skill at designing and manufacturing complicated timepieces. The Richeville Quantieme Perpetual Calendar watch is a perfect example of this expertise. The Richeville Quantieme Perpetual is set in the tonneau shaped case that is the signature of the Richeville collection. Tonneau shaped watches are one of our favorites because they are elegant but offer the watchmaker room to add complications. The Quantieme Perpetual is a perfect example of this.

At first glance one might confuse this watch with a chronograph were it not for the lack of chrono pushers. The dial on the Quantieme Perpetual is a true work of art. The main dial has a guilloche design that circles the outer edge of the dial. Girard Perregaux has carefully places four sub dials around the dial to perform the complex measurements required of such a watch.

The first sub dial is set at 12 o’clock and measures the month and the leap year, using two different indicators. Moving in a clockwise direction the day of the month indicator is set at 3 o’clock. GP has placed the moon phase window in a semi circular window at three o’clock. Finally the day of the week is easily viewed in a window that is set at six o’clock. This is one of our favorite Perpetual Calendar watches and with an automatic movement should be kept on a winder when not being worn.
