A Superb Vintage-inspired Pilot's Watch: The Glashutte Original Senator Navigator Panorama Date The Glashutte Original Senator Navigator Panorama Date watch pays tribute to classic aviator wristwatches. With its brushed stainless steel case, matte black dial with immediately legible luminous indications, and straightforward design, the Senator Navigator Panorama Date timepiece is extremely purposeful and exudes classic tool watch charm. At the same time, the exclusive Manufacture movement, superb craftsmanship and subtle details of watchmaking excellence make it an object of pride and true horological fascination.

At a wrist filling 44.2mm in diameter, the Glashutte Original Senator Navigator Panorama Date watch has an impressive presence. Not just a concession to fashion, this large size is historically true to the origin of original pilot's wristwatches, which were often worn over a leather flight jacket, and had to be sufficiently large to be instantly readable in any light condition -- and at a moments glance. Thus, the Navigator Panorama Date timepiece also has an extraordinarily attractive matte black dial, which is characterized by extremely bold markings, all of which light up brilliantly in darkness, thanks to a bold layer of photo-luminescent coating. An attractively domed sapphire crystal spans the dial, offering superb visibility, and scratch resistant protection. Perfectly set into the bezel, it is virtually impervious to damage from inadvertent impacts. To facilitate rapid time setting, the large winding crown does not screw down; nonetheless, Glashutte Original has engineered this watch to be water resistant to a useful depth of 50 meters.

The Glashutte Original Senator Navigator Panorama Date watch is far more than just a sports-bred instrument, however. It is also a superlative example of fine Manufacture watchmaking. Protected beneath the solid steel caseback, is an exclusive mechanism which has been designed and constructed in Glashutte, Germany. The richly refined Caliber 100 represents a new generation of Glashutte Original movements, and bears a technical signature of Glashutte Original--the distinctive dual-ring panorama date display. Comprised of numerous individual parts, this sophisticated date mechanism elevates this plebeian function to the level of a true complication. Also unique to this movement is a button-activated reset function for the second hand, which enables instant synchrony with a time signal. A massive 21-karat gold peripheral weight on the central rotor ensures efficient winding upon the wrist, up to a full power reserve of approximately 55 hours. Naturally, this Caliber 100 has been decorated in the best Glashutte tradition, and features a three quarter plate adorned with ribbing and cicular graining, beveled jewel settings, and a hand beveled swan-neck spring. The large balance wheel, set with 18 weighted gold screws, beats at a pace of 28,800 alternations per hour.

To compliment the classically sporty aesthetics of the Senator Navigator Panorama Date timepiece, each comes fitted with a "Vintage-Look" calfskin leather strap and a brushed stainless steel tang buckle signed with the characteristic double-G Glashutte logo.
