Basel 2008: Glashutte Original Sport Evolution Perpetual Calendar Watch

The Glashütte Original Sport Evolution Perpetual Calendar watch adds a whole new level of technical complexity to Glashütte Original's extremely popular Sport Evolution collection.  Featuring a self-winding mechanism that is manufactured by Glashütte Original, this model offers a complex calendar that displays day, date, month, moonphases and leap year, automatically adjusting itself for the varied lengths of months.  Enriched by a rotating bezel that offers a clever world time arrangement, the inveterate traveler-connoisseur can keep track of time anywhere in the world.

Crafted from finely brushed stainless steel, the 42mm case of this Glashütte Original timepiece is refined with elegant polished contrasts on various elements, such as the case lugs.  The bezel, printed with paired reference world cities is knurled along its edge, to offer an assured grip for easy rotation.  Sporty, yet elegant and highly legible, the black galvanized dial presents its calendar information in an orderly and sensible manner; sporty red accents and polished hands and hour markers create alluring points of visual interest.  Day and month are shown in the upper two windows, while the lower dial showcases the moonphase indicator and the sophisticated Glashütte Original Panorama date display; the leap year cycle is shown via a colored segment in the small circular window below the Glashütte Original logo.  Three correctors on the left side of the watch govern the correction of the calendar functions.   Despite the complexity of the functions, this watch lives up to its Sport Evolution moniker, and is water resistant to 100 meters.

The Glashütte Original Sport Evolution Perpetual Calendar watch is animated by the Caliber 39-57 movement, whose three-quarter plate and luxurious finishing can be admired through a sapphire crystal caseback.  The balance wheel alternates at a cadence of 28,800 beats per hour, and power reserve is approximately 40 hours.  The skeletonized central rotor is fitted with a 21K gold segment that aids in achieving an excellent degree of winding efficiency.

The Glashütte Original Sport Evolution Perpetual Calendar is available with several different strap options; the trieste strap is made of a synthetic material and features sporty red stitching, while the supple rubber strap showcases the Glashütte Original double-G logo.  The timepiece is also available on the luxurious and intricate Sport Evolution bracelet, which features a 4-link design in brushed and polished steel and incorporates an ingenious invisible fine adjustment and closure system.
