Jaquet Droz - L’ORIGINE - Hommage Londres 1774 Press Release PRESS RELEASE
L’ORIGINE
Hommage Londres 1774

Inspired by the same creative vision as the "Hommage London 1774" Collection by the Manufacture Jaquet Droz, L'Origine transforms two centuries of craftsmanship and tradition into a masterpiece of modern watchmaking.

Jaquet Droz continues to work its magic, combining mechanical superiority and creativity with a special talent for capturing the spirit of the day. Its name is familiar to all those who appreciate luxury watches. Created in 1738, Jaquet Droz was the first manufacture to set up shop in Geneva in 1784. Since its founding, enlightened connoisseurs in Switzerland, France and England, not to mention China, have been fascinated by its timepieces, whose tremendous technical performance goes hand in hand with innovative contemporary design. Perpetuated for over two hundred years, these values still rule supreme at the company workshops in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.

Inspired by the founder's 18th-century timepieces yet in step with the third millennium, L'Origine is an exclusive model representing not only a fabulous heritage but also cutting-edge technology.

And these strengths will be shared. L'Origine is the first steel watch that the luxury watchmaker has ever brought out in an unlimited edition. This choice is in step with the Jaquet Droz philosophy of observing tradition while subtly transcending it. Generously sized, the 43mm watch features a case that took over 80 steps to make, manual finish and the secret signature engraved on the self-winding mechanical movement. The hours, minutes and seconds are displayed on a centred opaline slate-grey subdial. Its large bevelled applied ring is entrusted with a new function: displaying Roman numerals for the hours and minutes hands. This innovation is underscored by blued steel screws, whose colour echoes that of the seconds hand as it sweeps past nine cabochons set around the circumference of the subdial. These are references to the Enlightenment, a period of inventive architecture and crafts marked by a quest for knowledge… and pleasure.

This quest lives again in L'Origine, classic yet contemporary, timeless and magical.

Opening up new dimensions and exploring the far horizons of the imagination, L’Origine is firmly anchored in the present.
