A new Montblanc Limited Edition pen pays homage to the Nobel Prize-winner George Bernard Shaw--satirist, music and theatre critic, and one of the great literary figures of the 20th century.
The Montblanc Writers Edition "George Bernard Shaw" is the newest member of Montblanc's Limited Writers Edition series, which since 1992 has annually commemorated a famous figure in the field of the written word. The pen features rings of marbled dark green lacquer, which grow progressively narrower towards the cap; the platinum-plated 18K nib of the fountain pen is engraved with a flower to symbolize London flower girl Eliza Doolittle--a leading character from Shaw's best-known play "Pygmalion", later adapted into the beloved musical "My Fair Lady". Set for availability in August 2008, the Montblanc Limited Writers Edition 2008 "George Bernard Shaw" writing instruments will be limited to a series of 16,000 fountain pens, 18,000 ballpoint pens, and 4,000 sets accessorized with a mechanical pencil.
A series of exclusive writing accessories will also be offered for the first time: crafted in black nappa leather, the set will feature a conference folder, a compact notebook, and a small notebook with space for bank notes. Each of these articles is elegantly embossed with extracts from famous George Bernard Shaw works such as "Pygmalion" and "Man and Superman". Like the pens, each of these items is limited in production, to a series of 10,000 examples each.
