SIHH 2009: Montblanc Automatic Sport Chronograph DLC

A sophisticated and extremely scratch resistant metal treatment gives an impressively stealthy aura to the latest member of Montblanc's Sport watch collection.  Measuring 44mm in diameter, the stainless steel case of the Montblanc Automatic Sport Chronograph is entirely covered in DLC--a carbon material with properties similar to diamond.  Outstanding durability and resistance to corrosion are but two of DLC's highly valuable attributes for a timepiece intended for sport.  The polished steel chronograph pushers and winding crown stand in stark contrast to the sober contours of the black case.  This appealing dichotomy is shared by the black dial which showcases polished sword-shaped luminous hands, and distinctive surrounds for the chronograph counters.

The Montblanc Automatic Sport Chronograph DLC is animated by a self-winding mechanical movement with a balance frequency of 28,800 beats per hour, and a 48-hour power reserve.  The chronograph function offers central chrono seconds, as well as counters for both elapsed minutes and hours.  A date display, which appears under a magnifier on the sapphire crystal, can be readily corrected via the crown, when required.

Well suited to the rigors of sports usage, the Montblanc Automatic Sport Chronograph DLC is water resistant to 200 meters; the graduated bezel rotates only in the counterclockwise direction and supplies the security which divers demand for underwater exploration.  The timepiece is completed by an alligator leather strap and a triple-deployant DLC-treated stainless steel clasp.
