Omega ambassador George Clooney has revealed that his interest in
Omega watches can be traced back to his childhood, when he was completely fascinated with every facet of the space race. To a young George Clooney,
Omega watches became indelibly linked to the American space program; he and his friends even drew Omega symbols on their own wristwatches.
George Clooney recalled that he received his first Omega timepiece at 8, as a gift from his uncle after Neil Armstrong and the Apollo 11 crew made their historic lunar landing in July of 1969. Clooney's sentimental association with the famous Swiss brand continued even after he became an Omega ambassador; at this time, the actor's father Nick gave him an Omega timepiece which he had worn for more than four decades.
