To commemorate the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Omega will offer a unique and spectacular set of timepieces, which represents a unique opportunity for collectors. Constructed around the fortuitous "number 8"--a significant symbol in Asian numerology--the Beijing 2008, Unique No. 8 Collection comprises each of the 32 watch models which have been licensed for the XXIX Olympiad, as well as three examples of the Omega Olympic Split Seconds Chronograph 1932 pocket watch, one each in red, white, and yellow gold.
As spectacular as the assemblage of watches, is the display case which houses them. For this set of one, Omega has pulled out all the stops and created a unique case that evokes traditional Chinese architecture. Crafted from black walnut with a rich lacquer finish, the case takes the form of an 8-level pagoda, whose richly ornamented sliding drawers hold the collection securely. The top of the pagoda showcases a special decoration that pays respect to both the Beijing 2008 Games and the distinguished history of Omega as a timekeeper for 23 Olympic Games.
