May 5, 2008
The Omega Speedmaster 5-Counter Chronograph is the world's first timepiece with a five-counter chronograph layout. Replicating the design of the Olympic rings, the counters indicate small seconds, elapsed days (up to 7), day of the week, chronograph hours, and chronograph minutes. The 44mm case features a tachymeter bezel, and a sapphire crystal; it is available in 18K red gold, 18K yellow gold, or stainless steel. Omega's self-winding Calibre 3888 movement animates the watch; this self-winding caliber has a power reserve of 52 hours, and features a column wheel and the acclaimed Co-Axial Escapement.
Omega created the Speedmaster 5-Counter Chronograph to commemorate their long-standing role as the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games, as well as highlight the upcoming 2008 Beijing Games. The watch will be offered in numbered limited editions, in each of the various metals.
