For 2009, Piaget injects a dose of sports elegance into its iconic Polo watch collection. The Piaget Polo Forty-Five Automatic watch reinterprets the famous form of this great luxury classic in titanium--a first for a collection of timepieces traditionally offered only in precious 18-karat gold.
In keeping with a more casual theme, the titanium case of the Piaget Polo Forty-Five Automatic watch measures a full-bodied 45mm across. The impeccable alternation of brushed and polished surfaces ensures that the unmistakably dashing identity of the Polo watch remains as strong as ever. A degree of subtle provocation is provided by the addition of such elements as a waterproof rubber strap, and silver or black dials accented with a red center second hand.
The Piaget Polo Forty-Five Automatic watch displays hours, minutes, sweep seconds, and the date. These functions are animated by the self-winding 800P caliber--a movement designed and manufactured by Piaget. The rhodium-plated bridges display a circular Cotes de Geneve decorative pattern, and blued screws---a distinctive signature found across the Piaget family of movements; the central rotor is also adorned with circular Cotes de Geneve, as well as the Piaget coat of arms. Mounted on a bridge is a screw-mounted balance wheel which beats at a frequency of 21,600 alternations per hour. Dual mainspring barrels facilitate a power reserve of 72 hours.
In keeping with its elegantly sporty attitude, the Piaget Polo Forty-Five Automatic watch is water resistant to 100 meters. The timepiece is fitted with a sapphire crystal.
