Ulysse Nardin will continue its innovative use of silicon in a limited production version of its acclaimed Sonata timepiece. The brand's Sonata Silicium Limited Edition watch features a number of components which have been developed in collaboration with the Swiss Association for Horological Research. The UN-67 self-winding movement incorporates silicon components in the escapement, including the hairspring, which is awaiting a patent. The dial of the watch is also crafted from the material.
The Ulysse Nardin Sonata Silicium Limited Edition watch is presented in a series of 300 pieces each in 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. Like the non-limited Sonata timepiece, the complex self-winding movement offers an innovative 24-hour alarm feature with cathedral gong, a display for a second time zone, and a large date display which may be adjusted in either direction. The 42mm watch is fitted with a crocodile strap and an 18K gold deployant clasp, and has sapphire crystals on both front and back.
