The Ulysse Nardin GMT +/- Perpetual Limited Edition watch derives its abilities from the Caliber UN-32 movement.  Upon a distinguished automatic-winding structure from Lemania, Ulysse Nardin l has created a perpetual calendar mechanism that presents indications of day, grand date, month, and calendar year based entirely upon circular elements such as wheels and Maltese crosses; this is different from traditional perpetual calendars which rely on a more fragile structure of levers, cams and their attendant springs.  Not only more durable, the circular mechanical solutions adopted by Ulysse Nardin allow the entire calendar to be adjusted backwards as well as forwards, something not possible with the cam and lever approach.
