Ulysse Nardin Genghis Khan Haute Joaillarie Watch

The Ulysse Nardin Genghis Khan tourbillon watches are already of the most impressive timepieces in the Swiss brand’s lineup, but a new baguette-cut diamond covered version has been announced. This Haute Joaillarie Genghis Khan watch is still for men, and serves to better frame the impressive technical marvels housed in this tourbillon minute repeater watch with automaton figurines.

The minute repeater complication directly emulates the gongs from London’s Big Ben Tower clock playing a Westminster chime. The minute repeater function repeats the time back to you in the form of a small easily deciphered melody. Minute repeater watches are of the most complex timepieces in the world, and here one is combined with not only a tourbillon based manually wound movement, but also automatons. The small figurines perform delicate animations when the minute repeater function is active. The swordsmen fight, while the cavalry soldier aims his spear for the ring. The characters are each styled after warriors from Genghis Khan’s army of the 12th century.

The Ulysse Nardin Genghis Khan arrives in a 42mm wide 18k white or rose gold exhibition case. The Haute Joaillarie models are further embellished with 148 high quality diamonds, 12 of which are black and serve as the hour markers. The watch dial is a large solid piece of onyx, with the figurines in gold placed on top. The watch is a real showcase of the three major draws to the watch, all of which are given emphasis to on the dial and in the timepiece’s complex functions.
