Vacheron Constantin Malte Tourbillon Regulateur to be Unveiled at SIHH 2008
Vacheron Constantin will unveil its new version of the Malte Tourbillon Regulateur in its new, larger and balanced tonneau case. Vacheron will present the new watch at Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) in Geneva this April.

The movement of this watch is the in house manufactured Vacheron Constantin tonneau-shaped, manual-winding caliber 1790R with tourbillion regulator movement. It has 27 jewels beating at 18,000 bph and a power reserve of 40 hours. Being a manufacture, Vacheron takes great pride in their handcrafted watches and details. Some of the finishing operations on the caliber can only be done by hand, especially the bar, which takes 11 hours to complete. Known as bercage or rounding off, this operation involves filing the tips of the arms with perfect regularity to give them a conical and semi-cylindrical shape, while marking off the centre and heels. The craftsmen polish it with stones, buffs, wooden pegs and finishing pastes to complete the process.

The 18k gold dial is presented in 5 kinds of finishing including snailed, guilloched, opaline, vertical satin-finishing and circular satin-finishing.

Available in two models - one in platinum and the other in 18k rose gold, this Vacheron Constantin Malte Tourbillon Regulateur watch measures 40mm x 50mm and features sapphire crystal. The strap is bark-blue or brown hand-stitched, saddle-finish, square-scaled alligator leather. The clasp is in platinum of 18k gold with a half Maltese cross motif.
