Action Innocence, a non-profit organization centered around protecting children from Internet sex predators, marks its 10th anniversary with a fine tribute from Geneva-based watchmaker Vacheron Constantin. The historic Swiss house, founded in 1755, has produced an exquisite one-off Patrimony Traditionelle skeleton watch to be auctioned during a June 18th gala dinner in Geneva. Proceeds generated from the sale will be donated to Action Innocence for its various programs.
Crafted from white gold, the round 30mm case of this special Vacheron Constantin watch bears an "action innocence" engraving. The intricate skeletonized bridges, entirely worked by hand, show off a distinctively elegant Ottoman motif. The pierced mainspring barrel displays the manufacture's famous Maltese Cross symbol, encircled with the engraved words "Vacheron Constantin Geneve". The dial's periphery features a contrasting minute track, complete with faceted applied hour markers. Both hour markers and the dauphine hands are in white gold.
Ticking within is the fantastically slender (height=1.64mm) manual winding caliber Vacheron Constantin Caliber 1003, which set a record in 1955 as the world's thinnest movement. Basic technical features include 18 jewels, a 31-hour power reserve, and a screw-adjusted balance beating at 18,000 vibrations per hour. The caliber is stamped with the Geneva Seal hallmark, a testament to its regional assembly, and its decoration and construction in strict accord with twelve absolute quality criteria as originally defined by the Canton of Geneva in 1886. A dark plum crocodile strap with a white gold buckle completes this piece unique Vacheron Constantin Patrimony watch.
