Pre-Basel 2008: Zenith Defy Split-Seconds Chronograph Big Date Watch
Mar 18, 2008
A complex split-seconds chronograph model will join the Zenith Defy Classic watch collection for 2008. This new Zenith Defy Classic timepiece will feature an 46.5mm 18K rose gold case, and a silvered "grain d'orge" guilloche dial with contrasting gold chronograph subdials. A matching rose gold bracelet, or a rubber strap will be available.
The Zenith Defy Split-Seconds Chronograph Big Date watch is defined by its prestigious split-seconds chronograph movement, which allows the simultaneous timing of two separate intervals of elapsed time. It features the Zenith El Primero 4026SC caliber, a self-winding movement manufactured by Zenith; its chief attributes include 1/10th second timing precision thanks to a balance wheel frequency of 36,000 alternations per hour, a column-wheel governed mechanism, and bridges made of shock-resistant Zenithium. The power reserve of this movement is approximately 50 hours, and the caliber has earned a COSC chronometer certificate.
Zenith has fitted a sapphire crystal window into the caseback of this watch, which allows a view of the aesthetic refinements applied to the movement. These include perlage decoration on the plates, and a grain d'orge guilloche pattern on the 22K gold centrally-mounted rotor.
